The Universal Concept Mental Arithmetic System popularly known as UCMAS, which is a professional organization dedicated to developing the intellect of children, has presented awards to the 2023 winners of the national competition.

The Awards were presented to 300 pupils for the successful 2023 UCMAS national competition.

Speaking at the 12th edition of this year’s UCMAS and Awards ceremony at Pentecost Convention Centre in Kasoa, the Director of Maurya Education, Mr Girish Gurbani said the competition improved pupils’ comprehension and listening skills and fostered their creativity and thinking skills.

He added that it was the responsibility of parents to provide the right environment for children to develop to their full potential, and such a platform was UCMAS.

The Business Development Director for Maurya Education, Roger Ohemeng also said the competition aims to empower children between the ages of 5 to 14 with the invaluable skill of mental arithmetic, recognizing its role in shaping young minds and cultivating crucial cognitive abilities.

Mr Ohemeng continued that Maurya Education seeks to build a solid foundation for children’s cognitive growth. He said Ghana needs a generation of young children who are critical thinkers to develop the country.
