Hanna Atiase CEO E. Wells Realty & Consultancy, said, Unfortunately, real estate has for a long time been a male dominated sector with little to no representation of women, especially in Africa. For example, in the real estate brokerage arena, a report by Juma Majanga from Nairobi for the VOA shows that less than 14% of Kenya’s real estate brokers are women.

She added that, Similar statistics are given for Nigeria, Ghana and most of the other African countries. However, outside the continent of Africa, the statistics are strikingly different. In America, 63% of Real Estate Brokers are women, according to the National Association of Realtors (NAR) 2017 Member Profile. In Sweden, the Association of Swedish Real Estate Agents recorded 46% of its members being female while in Australia women account for 65% of the Real Estate industry.

She also add that, during the seminar young women will be selected to participate in the mentorship program. The mentorship program will encourage the selected young women to “shadow” seasoned women in their various roles and to fully participate in the real estate sector of their choice, so they can be empowered through knowledge and experience under the guidance of their mentor.

She said, the seminar will host international speakers from Real Estate Brokerage, Property Technology, Interior Décor, Business Development and Property Management. The target audience for the A.W.I.R.E is women leaders in real estate as well as young African women aspiring for a career or investment opportunity in real estate.
