As means of increasing tax mobilization collection in the country, the Ghana Revenue Authority has launch Electronic Tax Clearance Certificate, Tax Compliance short code and Online filling in Accra.
Speaking at the launch of this ceremony Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Dr.Mamudu Bawumia emphasis on the emerging challenges confronting Tax collection of which Ghana Tax collection to GDP ratio is 13% which is low and as compare to African average which is 16 to 17%.
According to him another challenge is the issue of informal economy where there is no transparency, no unique identification of people, unable to notify who taxs payers were.
Vice President touched on the launch of the tax compliance short code as tool that will help check once taxes card with a click of a button *880#/to scan your taxes records and provide you with feedback on a status tax payer. Dr. Bawumia therefore encourage all with immediate effect to check your statues and know where one stand.
