The Nungua Traditional Council, alongside Silver City Limited and Madam Prempeh, a widow, has called on President John Dramani Mahama, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), the Judicial Service, the media, and the public to intervene in what they describe as ongoing harassment and land-guard activities orchestrated by Theophilus Teiko Tagoe.

However, new allegations have surfaced, suggesting that Mr. Teiko, with the alleged backing of two police officers, Mr. Ahim and Mr. Danso, is attempting to bypass the court’s directive. According to the Council, Teiko has been advised to seek a police protection order under false pretenses, claiming harassment of his workers, even though no such incidents have occurred.

In a press statement, the Council expressed gratitude to the President, judicial authorities, the Ghana Police Service, and the media for their initial support, which brought a semblance of peace to the community. They revealed that a legal process known as an interpleader has been filed to halt all demolition and land-guard activities in the area. The court has served Theophilus Teiko Tagoe and ordered him to cease any further activities on the disputed land, resulting in the current calm in the neighborhood.

The Nungua Traditional Council insists that there is absolute peace in the area, thanks to the court’s intervention, and that Mr. Teiko’s claims are baseless. They fear his alleged plan to use police protection to resume demolitions at night will reignite chaos and disrupt the peace.

“We are appealing once again to H.E. John Dramani Mahama, the Ghana Police Service, the Judicial Service, the media, and the public to help us stop this barbaric land-guarding activity by Theophilus Teiko Tagoe with the help of some public officials,” the Council stated.

They emphasized that the interpleader action filed under Order 44 Rule 12 of the High Court Civil Procedure Rules (C.I. 47) legally halts any execution process until the matter is resolved by the court. Any attempt to undermine this legal process, they argue, is not only unlawful but also a threat to the safety and well-being of residents.

The Nungua Traditional Council and its allies have called for urgent action to prevent further harassment and ensure that the community can continue to live peacefully. They urged authorities to hold Mr. Teiko and his associates accountable for their actions.
