Upstream Chamber launches Energy Transition.
The Ghana Upstream Petroleum Chamber has held its first annual oil and gas conference on theme “transitioning to a low carbon economy”.
The conference brings together explorers, oil and gas producers, and indigenous suppliers and manufacturers in the industry as well.
representatives from the Ministry of Energy, Ministry of trade and Industry, Ministry of Public Enterprises and the Petroleum Commission.

According to Mr. Joe Mensah
said “ this event has on the right time and its very important for all of us. As we seek to harness the country’s
hydrocarbon resources at a time of global energy insecurity, it is worth pointing out that with the right investment climate, Ghana can contribute to providing energy security for the world”.
Commenting the CEO of the Chamber, Mr David Ampofo said “if industry and government could deepen their collaboration, Ghana would be well on its way to sustainable development, spurred on by increased proceeds from our crude oil and the harnessing of domestic gas for the energy needed to transform our economy into a developed one”.
He added that “there was still of role for oil and gas in the context of the energy transition.”The energy transition position paper makes three main recommendations to government.
Incentivize exploration and development to increase production. Enhance, gas infrastructure and optimize domestic gas utilization, Seize opportunities in the emerging decarbonization solutions.
The conference takes place at a critical time when climate issues has taken center stage worldwide. By bringing together stakeholders, the Chamber seeks to support government in the development of a common vision for oil and gas industry.
