Support Disability Sports -Samuel Obeng Ansah Urges Government

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Talent Hour for Persons with Disability, Mr. Samuel Obeng Ansah has called on the Africa Union (AU) through government to pay much attention to disability sports in the country.
He however plead with government to equal resource and support disability sports like that of the football disciples in the sports sector.
According to him, disability sports have gain global recognition and have unearth talents and potentials in Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). Mr. Samuel Ansah who is also the Head of Media for Ghana Amputee National Team said the 2023, Africa/Paralympic games held in the country attracted 12 African countries during the tournament of which the Ghana Amputee National team emerged as winners and received a trophy in that regard.
He said the team was crowned as the Africa Amputee football champions, adding that on the 19th to 28th April, 2024, the African Amputee Football Cup of Nations (AAFCON) will kick start in Cairo, Egypt and explained that the total cost of participating in the tournament will attract a sum of $ 10,000.
The CEO is therefore calling on government, corporate bodies and other stakeholders in the sports fraternity to come to the aid of the team either in cash or in kind as the dead line falls at the end of February, 2024 to enable the team defend the (AAFCON) Cup.
Mr. Samuel Ansah hinted that the team represented Ghana during the 2021 African Amputee football Cup of Nations, saying they won the tournament and were crowned as the 2021 African Champions.
Throwing more light on some achievement of the team, he said they also won the Africa Para Games in 2023 and were invited to the Jubilee Hose by this Excellency, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to appreciate their success for impressive performance.
He however praised the Chief of Staff, Frema Osei-Opare of the promise to honour the players and plead her that the team is anxiously and patiently waiting for the package adding that other African countries have fervently supported and awarded players in disability sports in diverse ways.
