Queen mother feeds hundreds of children in Akyem Dwenase
Children of Akyem-Dwenase in the Feanteakwa district of the Eastern region had a really good time during the New Year as they enjoyed a free meal from their queen mother.
Over 200 children in Dwenase and the adjoining communities benefited from the benevolence act whilst they feasted, danced and had fun at the get-together programme on Monday January 1, 2024.
The initiative dubbed: Time with the kids sought to put smiles on the faces of many toddlers as well as to give to society as a way of supporting the indigent.
The Queen Mother of Akyem-Dwenease, Nana Appeaa Sarponmaa Kumankuma, addressing the media indicated that the maiden Time with the kids primarily aims at uniting the people especially the children.
She has assured to organize the ”Time with the kids” programme annually to help raise funds to support the education of brilliant but needy children in the community. She is optimistic that the initiative would also help to instill discipline and confidence in the children.
Meanwhile, Nana Appeaa Sarponmaa Kumankuma used the opportunity to educate parents on how to prevent deterioration on the nutritional status of infants stressing the need to reduce the prevalence of acute malnutrition in children thereby reducing mortality and morbidity.
She pledged to hold a series of programmes to educate parents within the catchment area to help alleviate childhood hunger.
