The National Integrity Forum has called upon telecommunications and regulatory bodies to ensure uninterrupted internet access throughout the 2024 election period.

Telecommunications and regulatory bodies to maintain uninterrupted internet access, the National Integrity Forum seeks to prevent potential disruptions that could compromise the electoral process.

Khadijah El-Usman, Regional Lead for Anglophone Africa at Paradigm Initiative, stressed the critical role of digital rights in election credibility, urging all stakeholders to uphold these rights for a fair and democratic process.

She highlighted the need for prompt, accurate information to combat misinformation and ensure election transparency, stating, “Timely and truthful information is vital to prevent the spread of misinformation

Francis Amani, President of Internet Society Ghana says this commitment aims to prevent misinformation, promote transparency, and maintain the credibility of the electoral process.

The Forum brought together key stakeholders, including civil society organizations, political parties, academia, government agencies, tech platforms, and the media. They emphasized the importance of digital rights protection, particularly during critical periods like elections.

By urging telecommunications and regulatory bodies to maintain uninterrupted internet access, the National Integrity Forum seeks to prevent potential disruptions that could compromise the electoral process.

For his part, Richard Kasu, Executive Director of CFF, underscored that timely information from the Electoral Commission is essential to maintaining the integrity of the electoral process, and stressed that collaboration among all stakeholders can help prevent misinformation and promote transparency.
