The Ghana Police Service has commended Ghanaians for their cooperation in maintaining peace and security during the post-election period.

The service, working under the National Election Security Taskforce, has implemented several measures to ensure stability in the country.

In an evening briefing, the Police noted that Ghana remains peaceful, attributing the calm to the effective collaboration between security agencies and the public.

However, the Police stressed that they would not rest on their laurels, pledging to sustain efforts to safeguard the nation’s peace.

The Police highlighted some key measures taken to ensure safety and security:

1. Enhanced Patrols: Joint day and night patrols with the military have been intensified to increase visibility and deter criminal activities.
2. Intelligence-Led Operations: Efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend individuals involved in activities that threaten the peace.
3. Strategic Deployments: Static security personnel have been stationed at critical state facilities and the residences of District and Municipal authorities.
4. Community Engagements: The Police continue to liaise with stakeholders to address specific security concerns through active outreach programs.

Within the past 24 hours, nine more suspects have been apprehended, bringing the total number of arrests related to post-election disturbances to 115.

The Police reported that no major incidents have occurred in the last 24 hours, with the overall security situation described as calm and stable.

The Police Service reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property, urging Ghanaians to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.

“We will continue to work tirelessly to maintain the peace that Ghana is known for,” the statement concluded.
