General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua, has responded to former President John Mahama’s pledge to investigate the violence that occurred during the 2020 elections.
In a statement, Kodua accused Mahama of acting desperate and making empty promises. He criticized the former President’s pledge to investigate the violence as a political gimmick, designed to win support ahead of the next election.
“Mahama is acting desperate, and it’s clear that his promises are nothing more than a political strategy to win votes,” Kodua said.
Kodua also accused Mahama of failing to acknowledge the role his party played in the violence that occurred during the elections.
“It’s disappointing that Mahama fails to take responsibility for the actions of his party members during the elections,” he said.
Kodua’s comments come after Mahama promised to investigate the violence that took place during the 2020 elections, stating that his party would ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
Aspiring Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for 2024 general elections, John Dramani Mahama has promised to institute investigations into the killing of eight (8) persons during the 2020 elections.
He has therefore assured the families of all who lost their lives during the tragic incidents not to despair.
“Insha Allah, when we come into office, we will investigate the killings, bring the perpetrators to face the law and pay the appropriate compensations”, Mr. Mahama announced during his campaign in the Techiman North Constituency.
