Mr. J.Y.A. Kwofie to many, you were the inspector General of Police ( Rtd, ) but to me you were a lot More than an inspector General of Police. You were not just my boss, you were also my father, a counselor and a great mentor.
According to current IGP Dr George akuffo Dampare said, it was inspiring to witness the height you attained in life in spite of your very humble beginnings, you were very meticulous in all that you did throughout your career in the ghana police service and that has become a Hallmark, one of the hallmarks we will forever remember and be proud of.
He said, even more inspiring is the fact that you were a diplomat at birth and a diplomat throughout your career.
IGP further said, i will forever cherish you for the fact that you were a fantastic team player and you build one of the most formidable teams in the police service in your team of your leadership.

From the service on 1st. October 1996, Mr. Kwofie was instrumental in Ghana transition to civilian rule as chairman of the joint committee on election security and as a member of the Nana Owusu Nsiah Mr. Oppong boanuh and the current IGP Dr. George akuffo Dampare.
After retirement from the police service, mr.kwofie was appointed ghana high commissioner to Nigeria in 1998 by former president, the late Jerry j.Rawling, A position he occupied until a new administration took over the reins of government in 2001.
Mr. Kwofie did not relent his effort to serve the Greater interest of mother ghana with his vast knowledge.

He was a man with a broad smile, and that illustrated his personality, making you feel at ease anytime you encountered him.
At his desk, on the field, or at social events, Mr. Kwofie was at his affable and hilarious best. He had a joke or anecdote for most situations and challenges, and would bring the house down with laughter and excitement.
He left CEPS having laid the foundation for inner security services networking and relations. He remains the historic public service personality that transited from the elevated positions.
