The Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO) has officially launched its election day observation and post-election activities as Ghana approaches the 2024 general elections. This move reinforces CODEO’s commitment to promoting transparency, fairness, and credibility in Ghana’s electoral processes.
Mrs. Elizabeth Villars, Co-chair, CODEO, at the launch explained that CODEO has embark on comprehensive observation strategy to ensure a credible, free, fair, transparent, and peaceful electoral process.
According to her, since 1992, CODEO has successfully observed eight successive elections in West Africa, earning a reputation for reliability and credibility many countries in west Africa region.
CODEO’s observation strategy is crucial in enhancing the transparency and credibility of elections in Africa. By deploying observers to polling stations and utilizing Parallel Vote Tabulation (PVT), CODEO promotes accountability and verifies presidential election results.
By pursuing these objectives, CODEO has established itself as a vital stakeholder in West Africa’s electoral landscape, contributing to the region’s democratic growth and stability.
Since its founding in 2000, CODEO has played a pivotal role in observing multiple election cycles, providing independent assessments and recommendations that have contributed to electoral reforms and strengthened Ghana’s democracy.
The organization’s Long-Term Observation (LTO) missions, Election Day monitoring, and use of Parallel Vote Tabulation (PVT) have been instrumental in ensuring free, fair, and peaceful elections. Parallel Vote Tabulation (PVT) and post-election review exercises.
