Former President John Dramani Mahama has charged Christians to get involved in active politics.

Speaking as a guest of honor at the Induction Service for Rev. Dr. Stephen Wengam as the New General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Ghana in Accra, the former President stated that Christians’ unwillingness to participate in active politics in Ghana would pave the way for people who are not God-fearing to rule the country.

He reiterated the significance of Christian leaders joining the call to solve national problems such as the country’s current economic crisis.

This he believed would help save the situation. What goes on in society affects the church and so you must speak out if there is a problem going on in the society,” he added.

With this, he applauded the Ghana Pentecostal Council for taking the bold step of presenting a letter to the government about the economic hardship that has befallen ordinary Ghanaians as a result of the economic crises, along with solutions, and urged others to do the same.

He also commended the Assemblies of God Ghana for their immense contribution to church growth and national development.

He pledged his support for the building of an ultra-modern multipurpose Village, a planned project by the church in the coming years, assuring them of his involvement in securing funds to that effect.
