$400M spent on Agenda 111, yet no hospital operational – Mahama
President John Dramani Mahama has revealed that around $400 million was spent on the Agenda 111 hospital project during the previous administration, yet not a single facility has become fully operational.
This disclosure was made during his inaugural State of the Nation Address in his second term before Parliament on Tuesday.
Agenda 111 is an ambitious healthcare initiative aimed at constructing 111 hospitals across the country to address the healthcare infrastructure gap.
However, President Mahama’s remarks suggest that despite significant financial commitments, none of the hospitals have been completed or are operational.
“It is important to note that USD 400 million has already been disbursed for the Agenda 111 project,” President Mahama stated, emphasizing that not a single hospital from this large-scale initiative is currently serving the people of Ghana.
President Mahama further suggested that the amount already spent could have facilitated the completion and operationalization of at least 22 of the proposed hospitals if resources had been utilized efficiently.
