Police investigate attack on 3 Catholic Priests in Oti Region

The Ghana Police Service has opened an investigation into an alleged assault on three Catholic missionary priests near Nkwanta in the Oti Region.

The incident occurred on December 11, 2024, when the priests and officials from the Nkwanta South Municipal Assembly, including the Municipal Engineer, were inspecting a plot of land for the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP).

The confrontation escalated when local youth accused the priests of attempting to steal equipment, leading to a physical assault. One priest sustained injuries, which were treated at a hospital and later discharged.

ACP Grace Ansah-Akrofi assured the public that police efforts are underway to apprehend the suspects and bring them to justice.

The police have also arrested 123 suspects in connection with various acts of lawlessness, with all suspects processed accordingly.
