Led by trailblazers like Liberia’s Miatta Fahnbulleh, the first woman to own a strongman federation, these competitors are shattering stereotypes and proving that the continent’s raw power and talent can no longer be ignored.

“Africa has the real strength, and it’s time the world knows it,” says Fahnbulleh, who has made it her mission to elevate African athletes in this sport. Through her role as the public relations officer for the World Strongman Federation, she has been working tirelessly to amplify their stories and get them the recognition they deserve.

One such athlete is Emmanuel Payne, the president of the Liberian Strongman Federation, who made waves at last year’s World Strongman competition. “When I stepped onto that stage, I wanted to represent my country and the entire continent with pride,” he says. “This is just the beginning for African strongmen.”
