Beneficiaries of the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) program in Ayensuano have commended the government for increasing the cash grant this year. The program, which provides financial support to extremely poor and vulnerable households, has seen a 100% increase in grants, doubling the previous stipends.

The Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Dakoa Newman, announced that the increase reflects the government’s commitment to improving the livelihoods of its citizens and addressing poverty at its roots. The LEAP program has been a cornerstone of the country’s social protection strategy, and the increase in grants is expected to have a significant positive impact on the welfare of beneficiary households across the country.

In Ayensuano, 400 households will receive over 200,000 cedis in the 91st and 92nd cycles of the program. The cash grant payment is scheduled to start across the country, with up to 204 million cedis allocated to beneficiary households nationwide.

The amount paid to beneficiaries has been doubled, with one eligible member household receiving GH₵256.00, two-member households receiving GH₵304.00, three-member households receiving GH₵352.00, and four-member households receiving GH₵424.00 bi-monthly.
