According to Dr Agnes Adu CEO Ghana Trade Fair Company Limited said, The 28th edition of the Ghana International Trade Fair, themed “E-commerce; Key to SME Growth for Development,” has officially commenced in Accra, marking a significant step forward in the integration of digital marketing and e-commerce platforms into Ghana’s economic framework.
Running from March 1 to 7, 2024, at the WestHills Mall, the event has attracted over 50 vendors from Ghana and Nigeria, showcasing the potential of sustainable marketing platforms for businesses in the modern economy.
E-commerce: A Catalyst for Growth At the heart of the trade fair’s agenda is the promotion of e-commerce as a pivotal tool for SME development. Dr. Agnes Adu, CEO of Ghana Trade Fair Company Limited, highlighted the profound impact of online business platforms, especially during the pandemic, on sustaining and growing businesses. The fair aims to solidify this trend by introducing ‘Ghana Unlimited,’ a permanent application and website dedicated to promoting made-in-Ghana products and supporting small businesses.
Notable participants at the fair include Ghana Cocobod, Nigeria Export Promotion Council, and Zenith Bank, each showcasing their offerings and reinforcing the fair’s focus on local products and SME support.
This initiative is further bolstered by recent partnerships, such as the collaboration between MTN and MasterCard, to deepen mobile money adoption and facilitate secure mobile payments across Africa.
These partnerships are crucial in creating a robust ecosystem for e-commerce in Ghana and beyond.
Future Prospects and Economic Impact
With the unveiling of ‘Ghana Unlimited’ set for June, the Ghana International Trade Fair is poised to make a lasting impact on the country’s economy by providing SMEs with the tools they need to thrive in the digital age. The emphasis on digital marketing trends and e-commerce platforms not only aims to foster SME growth but also to contribute significantly to the overall development of Ghana’s economy. As the fair continues, it serves as a reminder of the dynamic potential of e-commerce in driving economic growth and development.
