Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as part of efforts to mitigate noise pollution in Kasoa, Awutu Senya East Municipality has engage church leaders on the effective way of curbing the menace.
The meeting also sought to educate the participants on the impact of noise pollution to the environment and solicit the help of church leaders to save it from contamination. Noise is an underestimated threat that could cause several short to long term health problems studied by World Health Organization (WHO) have shown.
Kasoa,EPA Director, Peter Nana Ackon in an interview with SAMUEL NYAMEKYE JNR news emphasized the shared responsibility of environmental management.
He said the EPA in Kasoa is committed to collaborating with stakeholders to address the challengesHe reiterate on the need to educate their pastors, bar owners and other stakeholders on best practices for environmental management, and implement some of the ideas shared at the end of the meeting.
He said, during Christmas period, is a need for EPA to monitor numerous activities in Kasoa including religious activities. He added that, ” the goal of the meeting is to increase awareness of the importance of avoiding noise pollution to protect public health”.
He signal that,the agency would take legal action against anyone who refuses to comply with the rules.
However, ATINKA news spoke to some of the church leaders who attended the meeting which they pledges to comply with everything they’ve told.
