The National Elections Taskforce has assured Ghanaians that it is closely monitoring the ongoing election
They Have moved into the post election security phase, and additional measures have been put in place to maintain peace, security, law and order.
There have been limited cases of looting, vandalism and destruction of properties in some locations across the country,
According to ACP Grace Ansah-Akrofi, the Director of Public Relations of the Ghana Police Service, said, ACP Grace Ansah-Akrofi, the Director of Public Relations of the Ghana Police Service, 89 suspects have so far been arrested in connection with various offenses, and 40 of these suspects are directly connected to the act of vandalism, looting and destruction of properties.
She said, all these suspects are in custody and will be taking through the due process of the law. We would like to use this opportunity to caution persons to desist from such acts of violence, since the perpetrators will be arrested and brought to face justice.
ACP Grace Ansah-Akrofi, the Director of Public Relations of the Ghana Police Service, said, Some of the measures we have put in place towards ensuring the safety and security of all persons in this post election phase include the following.
Said, said, the security agencies are showing visibility through patrols in various locations. We are also conducting intelligence led operations within communities to fish out perpetrators that have so far identified.
We the security Agencies are also providing static security at state facilities, and we are engaging government officials and other stakeholders, including reaching out to them and hearing out their specific concerns.
She added that, Additionally, a special investigative team which has been put in place is reviewing all videos that we have so far obtained on such acts of vandalism, looting and destruction of properties, and every person in these states who is taking part in these activities will be identified, arrested and put before the Court to face justice.
